Our story

Born from our own everyday life

Tuvu started with our daughter, Elīza.

When she reached the stage of wanting to walk everywhere — until suddenly she didn’t — my husband and I discovered just how useful a hip carrier could be.

We loved the freedom it gave us – less need for the stroller, easier everyday outings and a comfortable way to keep her close when little legs got tired.

We created Tuvu

I wanted a carrier that combined the everyday practicality we had grown to love with beautiful, high-quality materials, playful designs and a more accessible price. Tuvu was born.

Tuvu means “close” in Latvian, a name inspired by exactly what these carriers give us – the freedom to keep moving while keeping our little ones right where they want to be.

Made for everyday life

Designed for busy days, little adventures and everything in between—Tuvu keeps your child close.

Made to look as good as it feels

Baby gear can be practical without looking purely practical.

From timeless neutrals to bold animal prints and colourful textures, Tuvu carriers are designed to feel like part of your everyday style – with a premium look and feel, without the premium price tag.

Up. Close. And off you go

Three simple steps are all it takes. See the steps below to get started.

01. Lift & position

Hold your child close, bring Tuvu over their head and position the seat securely beneath their bottom. Then, while supporting your child, carefully stand up.

02. Tighten the strap

Support your child with one arm while pulling the adjustment strap until they sit comfortably and close to your body.

03. Check & go

Check that your child is seated securely, the buckle is fastened and their legs form an “M” position. Always keep one arm around your child.

FAQs

Everything you need to know

From finding the right fit to caring for your Tuvu, delivery and returns — here are the things worth knowing before you get carrying.

Tuvu is designed for children from 9 months to approximately 4 years old (9–20 kg / 20–44 lbs). Your child should be able to sit unaided for extended periods and hold their head up independently before using the carrier.

Your child should sit securely and close to your body, with their legs comfortably supported around you. Position the carrier on your hip and adjust the strap until your child is comfortably supported.

Always keep one arm securely around your child while using Tuvu.

Yes. Place the padded shoulder strap over your preferred shoulder and position the carrier on the opposite hip. Adjust the strap until your child sits securely and comfortably close to you.

No. Tuvu is designed to support you while carrying your child, rather than function as a completely hands-free carrier.

Always keep one arm securely around your child while using Tuvu.

No. Tuvu should not be used as a sleeping device.

Always monitor your child while they are in the carrier and ensure their face remains visible and their mouth and nose are unobstructed.

No. Tuvu is intended for use while walking, standing or sitting.

Do not use the carrier while cycling, driving, exercising, participating in sports, cooking, swimming or during other activities that could increase the risk of falling, heat exposure or injury.

If you are pregnant, please consult your doctor or healthcare professional before using the carrier.

We recommend gentle hand washing in lukewarm water with a mild liquid detergent. Avoid detergents containing optical brighteners.

After washing, gently press out excess water without wringing, blot with a towel if necessary and line dry in the shade.

Always follow the washing symbols on the care label inside your Tuvu.

Fasten the buckle and fold it into the seat so there are no loose straps. Store your Tuvu clean and dry until you need it again.

These usage, care and safety instructions are based on the supplied Tuvu product documentation.

Yes. The carrier has undergone independent laboratory testing to EN 13209-2:2015, the European standard covering safety requirements and test methods for soft baby carriers.

The laboratory report records an overall PASS and includes assessments for chemical, thermal and mechanical hazards, choking and ingestion hazards, entanglement, falling hazards, attachment-system slippage, durability, packaging suffocation hazards and product information.

The tested carrier model has a Certificate of Compliance referencing the EU General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) and EN 13209-2:2015.

For customer-facing copy, I recommend describing Tuvu as “independently safety tested to EN 13209-2:2015” rather than using broader claims such as “EU certified.”

Yes. Materials accessible to the child’s mouth were tested according to EN 71-3 – Migration of Certain Elements.

The laboratory tested black webbing, black plastic and black cloth for a range of elements including lead, cadmium, mercury, arsenic, chromium and others. The report lists the tested elements as N.D. (not detected or below the method detection limit) for those samples.

Before placing your child in Tuvu, check the seams, straps, buckles and hardware for damage or wear and make sure all buckles and adjustments are properly secured.

Stop using the carrier if you notice ripped seams, torn straps, damaged hardware or other signs of damage.

What are the most important safety rules?

Always keep one arm securely around your child, keep your child’s face visible and their mouth and nose unobstructed, and make sure their chin is not pressed against their chest.

Tuvu should only be used with a child who meets the carrier’s age, weight and developmental requirements.

We ship Tuvu from Latvia to customers worldwide, with a primary focus on Latvia and the European Union.

Within Latvia and the EU, orders may be delivered using Omniva, DPD, UNISEND or Latvijas Pasts, depending on your destination and the delivery options available.

For destinations outside the EU, available shipping methods will depend on the destination country.

Shipping costs depend on your delivery location and selected shipping method.

The exact delivery cost will be calculated and displayed at checkout before you complete your purchase.

Orders are typically prepared and dispatched within 1–2 business days after payment has been received.

Estimated delivery times after dispatch are:

Latvia: approximately 1–3 business days
Baltic States: approximately 2–5 business days
Other EU countries: approximately 3–10 business days
Outside the EU: approximately 7–21 business days

Delivery times are estimates and may vary depending on the destination, carrier, customs procedures and circumstances outside our control.

Orders shipped within the European Union do not normally incur customs import charges between EU Member States.

For orders shipped outside the EU, customs duties, import taxes or other local charges may apply depending on your country’s regulations. Unless otherwise stated at checkout, these charges are the customer’s responsibility.

You can pay securely using the payment methods displayed at checkout.

Available payment methods may vary depending on your location and the payment provider used by Tuvu.

Payments are processed through our secure third-party payment provider. Tuvu does not directly store your complete card details.

Note for you: I would finalize this answer once you choose your WooCommerce payment provider. Then we can explicitly list Visa / Mastercard / Apple Pay / Google Pay / bank payment, etc., instead of keeping it generic.

Yes. EU/EEA consumers purchasing online generally have the right to withdraw from their purchase within 14 days of receiving the order without giving a reason.

To exercise your right of withdrawal, contact us within the 14-day period and clearly let us know that you wish to withdraw from your purchase.

After notifying us, the product must be returned without undue delay and no later than 14 days after notifying us of your decision to withdraw.

You may carefully inspect your Tuvu to establish its nature, characteristics and functionality, similar to what you would reasonably be able to do when shopping in a physical store.

Please handle the carrier carefully while deciding whether to keep it.

You may be responsible for any reduction in the product’s value resulting from handling beyond what is reasonably necessary to inspect it.

Where possible, please return Tuvu with its original labels, accessories and packaging.

For a standard change-of-mind return under the 14-day right of withdrawal, the customer is responsible for the direct cost of returning the product, unless Tuvu has agreed otherwise.

We recommend using a trackable shipping method and keeping your proof of postage until your return has been processed.

If you receive a defective or incorrect product, please contact us before returning it so we can arrange an appropriate solution.

Eligible refunds will be made using the same payment method used for your original purchase, unless otherwise agreed.

Where required by EU consumer rules, the refund also includes the cost of our standard delivery option. Additional costs resulting from choosing a more expensive delivery method do not have to be refunded.

We may withhold the refund until we receive the returned product or you provide evidence that it has been sent back.

Rather than processing direct exchanges, we recommend returning your original Tuvu and placing a new order for your preferred colour or design.

This makes the process quicker and ensures you can secure your preferred design while it’s still available.

Please contact us as soon as possible and provide your order number, a description of the issue and clear photographs where relevant.

We’ll review the issue and arrange an appropriate solution in accordance with your statutory consumer rights.

Yes. Purchasing an item at a discounted price does not by itself remove the statutory right of withdrawal for eligible EU online purchases.

Please email us at hello@tuvu.com with:

Your name · Order number · Product being returned · A clear statement that you wish to withdraw from the purchase.

We’ll send you the return instructions and return address.

You will also be able to access the Withdrawal Form on our website.
